Ivan Vasovic Named Goodyear Highway Hero at MATS

During the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show, Ivan Vasovic accepted the 31st Goodyear Highway Hero Award. Vasovic was bestowed the award for his courageous act of heroism. While driving in Los Angeles last October, Vasovic observed a terrible accident where a double tanker truck hit a concrete divider of a freeway overpass. The tanks, carrying diesel, were ripped open as the truck came to a stop with the tractor and first of the two tanker trailers hanging off the freeway overpass.The truck and the driver both caught on fire. The driver managed to kick out a window and slide down the truck onto the ground beneath the hanging truck, breaking an arm and a leg in the process. Ivan Vasovic and another bystander were able to drag the driver to safety just moments before the blazing truck crashed to the ground.
