Electronic Logs and Drugs and Alcohol Database Rulings in January

The trucking industry can expect to see a rule mandating the use of electronic logging devies to be published int eh Federal Register on Jan. 29 because it is expected to clear the White House's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on January 17.  There will be a 60 day comment period regarding the rule that will last until April 1st. Also expected to clear the OMB is the FMCSA's drug and alcohol claringhouse rule, which will be published in the Federal Register on Jan. 31.

The D&A Rule will establish a database of drivers who have failed or refused to take drug and alcohol tests. The rule will also requre carriers to review the database when hiring drivers. Read more about the Electronic Logging and Drug and Alcohol Rules by clicking here.
