House Bill Proposed to Hike Fuel Tax

Here it is again, folks... more talk about how we can begin to pay for the necessary infrastructure improvements needed for American highways.

This time, instead of trying to devolve the funding issues to the individual states, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) introduced a bill that would raise the federal fuel tax by 15 cents and index it to inflation. The bill will be repealed in 2024, at which time the government will be able to replace it for a more suitable funding source, which has yet to be determined. The last time the fuel tax was raised was in 1993. The increase was 4.3 cents. Follow the link to get more details.
