A new tool, called the "jammer," which is designed to scramble the GPS signal of tracking devices being used to track shipments, is now being used by cargo thieves to hijack cargo. According to FreightWatch International, there have been two recent occasions in which a jammer has been used, and this indicated that there may be a growing trend among those that seek to steal cargo. FreightWatch International recommends that if this trend continues, cargo carriers will certainly need to up the ante on their security devices in order stay one step ahead of the thieves.
