New Emissions Requirements for South Carolina Ports Effective Jan 1

Starting January 1st, all trucks going into South Carolina ports must been certain emissions requirements. Only trucks with engines built in 1994 and later will be permited to enter the ports. The Port Authority is looking forward to helping the environment by reducing the impact on air quality tht is caused by older trucks. There were some "hardship registrations" that allowed for some exemptions. Those who can receive a hardship registration are those truck owners who visited South Carolina Port Authority terminals at least 52 times in the previous 52 weeks. The hardship exemptions expire June 30, 2014. For those drivers who aren't enrolled in the hardhip registration and the truck does not meet compliance will only be allowed to enter the port ONE TIME.
