Truckers Moved 70% of Our Nations Goods in 2012

It's no secret that the trucking industry moves a lot of our nations goods. A common phrase in the industry is "If you've got it, a trucker brought it." According to a Commodity Flow Survey by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, this sentiment seems to be relatively true. The survey reports that $13.6 trillion worth of goods were moved last year, and that trucks carried $10 trillion of it (73.7 percent) of it. As far as tonnage, trucks carried 8 billion tons of the 11.7 billion tons of goods that were shipped in 2012. The CFS is only published once every five years. For more information, click here.
